Pursuant to 657—subrule 8.11(5), no pharmacist or pharmacy shall participate in any agreement or plan that infringes on any resident’s right to freedom of choice as to the provider of pharmacy services. A resident in a long-term care facility shall have a choice of long-term care pharmacy so long as the pharmacy’s drug delivery system provides for the timely delivery of drugs compatible with the established system currently used by the facility. Determination of compatibility may consider medication administration, accessibility, and payment system.
