Section 161.3.6. Notice of the complaint.

After jurisdictional review and within 20 days of receipt of the complaint, the commission will serve a complaint on a respondent by regular or electronic mail. If the first named respondent does not respond to the service by regular or electronic mail after 90 days, the commission shall serve the complaint on the first named respondent by certified mail within 20 days after the expiration of the 90-day response period. A letter of acknowledgment shall advise the complainant of the right to withdraw the complaint and sue in the appropriate district court according to Iowa Code section 216.16.
